The present watch is broadly recognised as the rarest of the Rolex Day-Date reference, and is made all the more so by the fact that it is made in white gold with diamond-set indexes. The design, with its reeded bezel and pie-pan dial, oozes mid-century charm and an enormous amount of character.   The Day-Date was released in 1956 and very quickly became one of Rolex's most appreciated models, often being sported by high-profile political figures around the world.
