Catalogue Note

Its creator GĂ©rald Genta purportedly designed the Nautilus in 5 minutes sat in a restaurant in Basel watching the Patek Philippe executives dining. It was a watch that was born during the 70s quartz watch crisis and a design, though only drawn in an instant, that has endured more than 40 years success. Any such watch is rightly deserving of an icon status.

This present lot comes in attractive condition with its Certificate of Origin stating that the watch was originally sold with a golden, diamond-set dial. Interestingly, the owner at the time changed it to the present period-correct classic Nautilus black-blue ribbed dial, rendering the watch to a more wearable look on a daily basis.
