Reference 3588 was launched in 1970 and produced until circa 1980 in both yellow and white gold in different dials, bezels and bracelet variations. It was the first Patek Philippe to bear the new LeCoultre-based 28-255 movement which was among the best and the flattest automatic movements at the time. What is interesting about the present lot is the emblem visible on the dial at six o'clock, depicting a boar and a ram. While our research could not provide us with more information about the meaning of the crest, the quality of the craftsmanship is very high and was almost certainly applied by Patek Philippe themselves upon special request by the client.
