Catalogue Note

The terms factory fresh and new old stock are thrown around, some may argue, fairly loosely.  In this instance however one can rest safe in the knowledge that they are used entirely justly. This Patek Philippe 570 made in 1966 could have just come straight off the production line.  Retaining all of its original proportions the lugs are wide, the edges razor sharp and the brushed and polished finishes are still clearly discernible and very defined.  What is more this watch is accompanied by its original white gold buckle and the swing tag. The reference 570, also dubbed the ‘Grande Calatrava’, began production in 1938 and finished in 1972.  Powered by the calibre 27 SC the present lot features centre seconds, a variant produced only between 1939 and 1970.   Apart from its increased size of 35 mm the 570 is very similar in appearance to the reference 96.
