Catalogue Note

Celebrating the 222nd anniversary of the brand, Vacheron Constantin launched the reference 222 in 1977.  Too often erroneously attributed to Gerald Genta, and aesthetically one can understand why, the model was actually born of a design by Jorg Hysek.  The 222 does however house the same Jaeger-LeCoultre calibre 920 used in both the Nautilus and the Royal Oak.  Available in 34 mm and 37 mm the present lot, of the former size, comes with the most sought after black/grey dial.  Further to this though, lot 37 is presented alongside a complete set of accoutrements including the original sales invoice and novelty Vacheron Constantin playing cards.
