MVT: is running at the time of cataloguing and the flyback chronograph working as well. CASE: in very attractive condition retaining well-defined lugs and nice proportions. The edges and the milling to the bezel are still sharp and there are only minor signs of possible polishing and minor surface wear visible with the naked eye. DIAL: in very good condition with lumes reacting consistently to UV light and fading quickly and completely after exposure. There are fine surface scratches in the seconds subdial and around 7 o'clock, as well as minor spots visible when closely examining the dial. While the luminescence is reacting consistently, there are a few more darker spots on the 2 o'clock index. Please note that the movement has not been tested for the accuracy of time and may need a service at the buyer's expense. Sotheby's does not guarantee the future working of the movement and we do not guarantee the authenticity of any individual component parts since subsequent repairs and restoration work may have resulted in the replacement of original parts. Catalogue Note

The French Ministry of Defense used the project code Type XX when designing a watch with military specifications. It was around the mid 1950’s that the French Ministry presented these specifications to various watch manufactures. Perhaps one of these most important features was the watch had to be fitted with a fly back chronograph. The case back of the present watch is engraved with Breguet, Type 20, 5101/54 and then further engraved with FG which stands for “Fin de Garantie”: end of guarantee in French and a date. These engravings applied by a watchmaker indicated when the watch had to be serviced next. The case of the present watch has various dates up until 9.1.81.

This Military chronograph Type XX is further retained in very attractive and original condition.
