Condition

MVT: is running at the time of cataloguing and the date advancing. CASE: in very good condition with light signs of polish and light surface wear visible with the naked eye. The milled bezel quite sharp and with minor blemishes only. The glass with a few fine surface scratches. DIAL: in very good condition with the luminous material having aged consistently. The lume reacts evenly to UV light and immediately stops reacting when no longer exposed to it. There are a few spots visible within the luminous material and there is some minute loss on the outermost edge of the dial around 6 and 12 o'clock. Please note that the movement has not been tested for the accuracy of time and may need a service at the buyer's expense. Sotheby's does not guarantee the future working of the movement and we do not guarantee the authenticity of any individual component parts since subsequent repairs and restoration work may have resulted in the replacement of original parts. Catalogue Note

Stamped inside the case back for the fourth quarter of 1967, this Double Red Sea Dweller is from the first year of production. The inside case back is also stamped with the last three digits of the case number. The dial is known as a MK3 and is in lovely original condition. The lumes have aged in nice and consistent way that now have a more ivory appearance. Overall, this is example is very nice and original.
