Condition

MVT: is running at the time of cataloguing. Please note that inside the case around the movement, there is some minor corrosion. CASE: is in good condition with sharp lugs and edges. There are signs that the case was likely slightly polished and there are some fine pinhead dings and surface scuffs visible. The bracelet is in very good condition with minor stretching and surface wear, endlinks stamped 580, clasp stamped 93150. Inside case back stamped 5512. DIAL: in very good condition with minor blemishes. Luminescent indexes no longer glow apart from the dot at 12 o'clock on the bezel, which reacts strongly and has likely been replaced at a service. Please note that the movement has not been tested for the accuracy of time and may need a service at the buyer's expense. Sotheby's does not guarantee the future working of the movement and we do not guarantee the authenticity of any individual component parts since subsequent repairs and restoration work may have resulted in the replacement of original parts. Catalogue Note

The Rolex Submariner reference 5513 was in production from 1962 to 1989. The present watch, manufactured in the mid 1980's is fitted with a calibre 1520. This calibre was not chronometer tested and is confirmed by the two lines of text above 6 o'clock and not four, like with those movements that are chronometer tested. In very nice and original condition the numerals on the dial are secured in white gold frames and the watch is still fitted with its original bracelet reference 93150.
