Condition

MVT: is running at the time of cataloguing and the date advancing. CASE: in good condition with very sharp lugs. The beveling to the lugs is no longer visible indicating that the watch was polished and there are some minor surface scratches and minor dings visible with the naked eye. Please note that there is some corrosion inside the case. Bracelet in good condition with surface wear and light stretching. Clasp stamped 93150, endlinks stamped 593 DIAL: in attractive honest condition. The lumes have nicely aged and have a weak and consistent reaction to UV-light. The dial is slightly flaking off on the edge between 11 and 12 and at 6 o'clock. There are light surface scratches to the glass between 10 and 11. Please note that the movement has not been tested for the accuracy of time and may need a service at the buyer's expense. Sotheby's does not guarantee the future working of the movement and we do not guarantee the authenticity of any individual component parts since subsequent repairs and restoration work may have resulted in the replacement of original parts. Catalogue Note

Launched in 1967, the Red Submariner was the first Submariner model to feature the date. Highly collectable, the dial has many variations. The present watch is fitted with a MK 6 feet first dial with closed 6’s and was the last dial to feature the red Submariner printing.
