Condition

MVT: running at the time of cataloguing. CASE: in overall good condition. The band with some rubbing and minor enamel loss. The top case with some signs of repair. DIAL: aged and slightly discolored. to be expected with a watch of this age. The condition is still good however and the patina is attractive and consistent. Please note that the movement has not been tested for the accuracy of time and may need a service at the buyer's expense. Sotheby's does not guarantee the future working of the movement and we do not guarantee the authenticity of any individual component parts since subsequent repairs and restoration work may have resulted in the replacement of original parts. Catalogue Note

Originally designed as a seal, this drum shaped watch features an engine turned case suspended from an onyx ring. The band is decorated with black enamel and the silvered dial bears an inscription at 6 o’clock.  This seal form timepiece has furthermore been retained in very original and attractive condition.
