Description

  • Height 12 1/8  in., 30.8 cm
the baluster body rising from a short foot to a waisted neck and everted cup-shaped mouth, the shoulder set to either side with a pair of small loops, the body deftly combed and incised around the exterior with wide band of peony bloom meander, the domed cover incised with a frieze of radiating lotus petals below a petal form flange and pierced bud-form knop, covered overall in an olive-green glaze stopping neatly at foot, the base unglazed revealing the burnt orange body (2)

Condition

There are several small chips and frits to inner and outer rims of the cover. The vase with a glazed-over potting flaw to the rim and some scattered fritting to the foot ring. The vase and cover with wear overall, some glaze erosion and crazing, and some accretions consistent with age and type.
