Description

  • 23.5 cm, 9 1/4  in.
the shallow rounded sides rising from a recessed base to a broad flaring rim, finely enamelled to the front face with a medallion enclosing Don Quixote wearing a barber’s bowl as the Helmet of Mambrino, after an image by Charles-Antoine Coypel (1694-1752), the rim with gilt and iron-red floral sprays within chain and floral scroll bands 

Condition

There is a small chip (approx. 0.4 x 0.3 cm) to the rim with an associated hairline (approx. 2.5 cm). There are also some general surface wear, including minor losses to the enamels and gilding, discolouration and fritting to the rim, and minor firing imperfections, including small glaze pulls, crackles and firing cracks.
