CHATEAU LATOUR 1970
Château Latour 1970
Pauillac, 1er Cru Classé
1 mag - u. vts, glue-striped and torn label, 5 bts - u. 4t/hs, 1hs, wines come from different importers, bin-soiled and glue-striped labels, 1 heavily bin-soiled label, 3 stickers adhered to capsules, slightly corroded and nicked capsules

In 2019, I have never had a better bottle (from our own stock, bought in the 1970s, with perfect storage). Great colour and a true Pauillac First Growth cassis nose, with an affinity to Mouton here. Aromatic Cabernet at its height and headily scented with sublime terroir. A fabulous sensation on the palate, with power, succulence, fruit and...obvious future longevity. An incredible cocoa powder finish - intoxicating really. A sleeping giant - perhaps only dozing. Serena Sutcliffe, MW
