Description

Château Figeac 2011 St. Emilion, 1er Grand Cru Classé (B)In 2018, served blind, I was 'bowled over'. Somehow, I got the château, all Cabernet Sauvignon/Médoc on the nose but, on the palate, something else.....leads one to Figeac. I was way out on the vintage, aiming so much 'higher'. It was gloriously fresh, intense, black fruit bliss, all smoky cassis, sheer vivacity and glossiness, with such harmony. This must be the best 2011 around - seize it now and see for yourself. Looking back, I see it was excellent from the get-go, interestingly, with a three-way exact split between Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot.
