Description
Château Pichon Longueville, Lalande 1975 Pauillac, 2ème Cru Classéu. 5bn, 7vts, bin-soiled and glue-striped labels, 2 of which nicked, bin-soiled and nicked capsules, 3 of which slightly corroded, 2 slightly sunken corks, pen-marked case, excellent color and clarityMichel Delon made this for the owning family of the time. Chocolatey and thick with a sweet, ripe finish. All the tannin has softened. An extremely scented nose of Maraschino cherries. Succulent and sweet taste. Succulent and with a sweet taste, plus the Pichon finesse. Both chocolatey and meaty. Soft and cedary. This has to be right at the top of the 1975s now. At 34 years old, a great aromatic bouquet which I initially thought was the 1978. Thick, dense and soft on the palate. So fruity and plummy. Melts in the mouth. This must be the 1975 with the best integrated tannins. Serena Sutcliffe, MW12 bts (owc)Estimates are per lot
