Château Latour 1970 Pauillac, 1er Cru Classéu. 2vts, 3ts, 2t/hs, 5hs, excellent color and clarity, from different importers, soiled and slightly scuffed and damp affected labels, slightly worn capsulesIn 2019, I have never had a better bottle (from our own stock, bought in the 1970s, with perfect storage). Great colour and a true Pauillac First Growth cassis nose, with an affinity to Mouton here. Aromatic Cabernet at its height and headily scented with sublime terroir. A fabulous sensation on the palate, with power, succulence, fruit and...obvious future longevity. An incredible cocoa powder finish - intoxicating really. A sleeping giant - perhaps only dozing.
