GOLD, PEARL, ENAMEL, DIAMOND AND RUBY NECKLACE

Designed as a serpent, the gold head applied with blue enamel, set with pearls, old mine and rose-cut diamonds, the eyes embellished with cabochon rubies, the body composed of scale-like gold links, length 15¾ inches; mid-19th century. With fitted box.

In good condition given the age of this piece, with some small areas of enamel loss, visible upon close inspection. Mounted in gold and silver. The diamonds are approximately K-L color, SI clarity, decorative in quality. The pearls are of ivory body color, with overall fair to good skin, varying luster, one pearl with significant hole to the side. The ruby eyes are medium red color, with surface abrasions. Snake is well articulated and designed. Gross weight approximately 26 dwts. Clasp closes securely. Please note that the pearls have not been tested for natural origin.
