Description

Claw-set with a mixed-cut emerald weighing approximately 9.57 carats, within a double border of collet-set circular-cut diamonds, French import assay mark, later brooch fitting with maker's mark.

Condition

Accompanied by report no. 79227-09 from GCS, stating that the emerald measuring approximately 17 x 15.4 x 5.4mm, and weighing approximately 10.5 carats is of Colombian origin, with evidence of minor clarity enhancement with oil. Brooch with French import assay mark for platinum, later brooch fitting stamped 750 with maker's mark M. Estimated total diamond weight approximately 15.00 - 17.00 carats, largest diamonds estimated to weigh approximately 1.20 carats, estimated to be I-K on average, SI - I clarity on average. Reverse of brooch with screw fittings implying interchangeable fittings. Later brooch fitting fixed with glue, with visible glue residue to reverse. Brooch fitting with additional jump ring allowing brooch to be worn as pendant. Brooch has been later rhodium plated. Dimensions approximately 43 x 36mm, gross weight approximately 22.1 grams.
