PAIR OF EMERALD AND DIAMOND EARRINGS, MID 19TH CENTURY

Description

Each composed of a surmount set with a cushion-shaped emerald within a border of cushion-shaped diamonds, suspending a detachable lower half designed as a horizontal bar supporting three articulated pendants, set with cushion-shaped and rose diamonds, the centre suspending a briolette emerald weighing approximately 4.80 and 4.30 carats respectively, screw fittings, three diamonds deficient.

Condition

Accompanied by GCS report no. 79235-03, stating that the emeralds are of Colombian origin, the emeralds in the surmounts with minor clarity enhancement, the emerald briolettes with indications of minor and moderate clarity enhancement respectively. Unsigned. Estimated total diamond weight approximately 3.50 - 4.00 carats. One briolette emerald damaged at drill hole, held in place by wire fitting into cut groove, the same emerald with slight channel to one side, possibly the remnants of an old drill hole from a larger bead. All emeralds with areas of minor wear to facet edges, otherwise in good condition. Overall measurements approximately 48 x 21mm, combined gross weight approximately 16.7 grams. Accompanied by case.
