- Haut. 49 cm ; height 19 1/3 in.
representing the metamorphosis of Daphne touched by Apollo, a figure of River God by their side, marked 7 L.R. for Le Riche
Provenance
Former collection of Maurice de Wendel in his hôtel particulier 28 avenue de New York, Paris, thence by descent to the present owner
Condition
From top to base : restoration to both ends of Daphne, right arm broken on the elbow, chips to the laurel crown, chips to Apollo's hair, restoration to the arrows and elbow on right arm of Apollo, restoration to both ankles of Apollo, restoration of left hand of God River, restoration to oar and the end of the oar broken and previously restored, firing cracks to base, restoration to reed at the back of the group.

This model was created by Louis-Simon Boizot and produced at the Manufacture de Sèvres from 1786 (see the catalog of the exhibition Louis-Simon Boizot, 1743-1809, King's sculptor and director of the workshop at the Manufacture de Sèvres, Lambinet Museum, Versailles, October 2001-February 2002, Anne Billon, 253. A similar group was part of the Earl of Rosebery's former collection, The Estate of the Sixth Earl of Rosebery, Mentmore, Buckinghamshire; Sotheby Parke Bernet & Co., May 24, 1977, lot 2092.
