  • Haut. 90 cm, larg. 45,5 cm ; height 35 1/2 in., width 18 in.
the dial signed CLOUZIER A PARIS, the movement signed Clouzier A Paris, the case with a crowned C mark (1745-1749)

Condition

In good condition. Gilding is nice color with scattered rubbing and minor tarnishing. Movement converted from original verge escapement to anchor escapement in the 19th century with one wheel replaced, but still retaining silk suspension. Pendulum and glass later, and slight wear to dial enamel, mainly around winding holes. Proper left shoulder of the case above the dial and behind the foliate scrolls bearing a hole, with two smaller holes further above. Putto on crest possibly originally holding an arrow.

Most probably Simon-Nicolas Clouzier (d.1774, maĆ®tre in 1735) who took over his father's workshop in Rue Saint-Antoine in 1748 and used cases by Jean-Joseph de Saint-Germain and A.L. Duval.
