Catalogue Note
Jacques Dubois, received master in 1742. Although Dubois remained famous for his lacquered furniture output, he also produced many pieces of furniture with marquetry during his long and successful career. Among them, one finds his stamp on several reading tables, very typical of the fashionable trends under Louis XV's reign for small "volants" (easy to move) furniture, especially one bequeathed by Henriette Bouvier for the Carnavalet Museum (inv. MB 441).
