The photograph is quite accurate. The vases are in good overall condition. One tiny chip on the spath fluor of one vase. Very few spots of oxidation (not distracting). Beautiful mercury gilding.

Catalogue Note
The originality of the mounting's design, the chiseling's quality and the richness of the gilding are reminiscent of works by Jean-Claude Chambellan Duplessis (1699-1774) who was at the same time an important sculptor, ornamentalist, silversmith and bronze artist from Italy. Emigrated to France in 1740, he was appointed Silversmith to the King in 1758. After 1748, he was selected as artistic director of the Vincennes porcelain manufactory then Sèvres until his death. He then provided with his son's assistance gilt bronze mounts, making it difficult to dissociate the craftsmanship between the father and son. We find his name in Lazare Duvaux's journal and he had a prestigious clientele like the Count of Argenton and the Duke of Chaulnes.
