Condition

Overall in very good condition. The shade is executed in a highly impressionistic, springtime palette. The daffodil blossoms are comprised of a range of yellow glass, from pastel to lemon to warmer orange-yellow, and the mottles are artistically placed to articulate the dimensionality of the flowers. The vibrant green leaves ranging from shamrock to more yellow-green are offset by the soft powder blue background, imparting the shade with a light and airy quality. The shade is accented by a vivid border of cornflower blue glass. The shade with approximately 6 hairline cracks dispersed throughout, stable. The shade with some extremely light surface soiling concentrated to the contours adjacent to the leadlines. The base is in very good condition and displays a rich russet brown patina with green marbling. The base with occasional minor surface scratches, abrasions, surface wear, and some light surface soiling and minor oxidation to the recessed contours of the design, consistent with age and gentle handling. The outer edge of the foot with some occasional scattered shallow dents, not visually distracting. The sockets and paddle switches all appear to be original and undisturbed. With a period finial in very good condition with light surface scratches and wear, consistent with age and gentle handling. This lamp is an exceptionally strong example of Tiffany’s Daffodil model, displaying a highly artistic and naturalistic glass selection. This shade beautifully captures the impressionistic sensibility of dappled sunlight dancing on the blossoms and foliage as seen in nature.
