Catalogue Note

”I realize that the things I’m still working on now, I was already exploring back then without realizing it. For example, now one of my main inventions or creations is the 'inner band.' If you look at the flat surface from the side you don’t see it, but when you move around it appears—it’s like it’s actually inside the painting. Though this should be impossible, since there’s no 'inside' to a flat, two-dimensional plane. This inner band exists first in an abstract perceptual reality, just like the other side of the moon, which we know exists, but which we’ve never actually seen, except maybe in photographs."
