Condition

This work is in very good condition overall. The sheet is laid on board and there is evidence of time staining throughout and some scattered surface soiling. The irregular pigment application is consistent with the artist's working method and choice of medium. Under close inspection and when unframed, there is evidence of minor wear and handling to the corners and edges. Only visible under very close inspection, there is a minor tear repair at the top right corner which fluoresces darkly under Ultraviolet light inspection. Framed.

Catalogue Note

“At one time, it was very daring to make a figure red or blue: I think now that it is just as daring to make it flesh-colored.” Willem De Kooning
