Culver City, Susanne Vielmetter Los Angeles Projects, The Other One, April - May 2005
“There is so much elimination and destruction in the process—I am happy if you see the works as beautiful and uplifting, but they are tough objects that I have struggled with. It may be a beautiful struggle but I do want you to see the struggle in it.”
This work is in very good condition overall. Embedded fine fibers are scattered throughout, inherent to the work. There is evidence of wear and handling to the edges, with associated pinpoint losses at the extreme turning left edge. Upon close inspection, very minor craquelure is visible in the black passage running vertically in the right-hand section. There are areas of heavy impasto and the impasto peaks appear to be secure and intact. Under Ultraviolet light inspection, there is no evidence of restoration. Unframed. In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above. Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed, professional report. Prospective buyers should inspect each lot to satisfy themselves as to condition and must understand that any statement made by Sotheby's is merely a subjective qualified opinion. NOTWITHSTANDING THIS REPORT OR ANY DISCUSSIONS CONCERNING CONDITION OF A LOT, ALL LOTS ARE OFFERED AND SOLD "AS IS" IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CONDITIONS OF SALE PRINTED IN THE CATALOGUE.
