Catalogue Note

“Throughout his work, Thompson wants to release our sense of identity from the burden of singularity—to find in formulas of seriality and abstraction samples and samplings of a generative process that is less about productivity than it is about an awakening of a consciousness of production, of (someone’s) labor and time." Ann Lauterbach, “On Cheyney Thompson: The Task of Art in the Age of Information" in Exh. Cat, Cambridge, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, List Visual Arts Center, Cheyney Thompson: Metric, Pedestal, Landlord, Cabengo, Recit, 2012, p. 177
