Condition

"This work is in very good condition overall. Each photo is hinged verso to the mat along the top edge. The colors remain bright and saturated, with no apparent fading. There is very minor edge and corner wear and some soft handling creases in the margins. Each framed under Plexiglas. 1. Untitled [blonde woman with tan coat]: Upon close inspection, near the upper edge, there is a 1/8-inch minor surface scratch. 3. Untitled [brunette woman with black ribbon tie]: In the upper left quadrant there are two deposits of original retouching and a few light hairline scratches that are visible only in raking light. 4. Untitled [brunette woman with navy ruffled shirt and strand of pearls]: A gentle linear impression from the window mat runs parallel to the lower edge of the image at approximately 3/4-inch from the margin, obscured by the mat."

Catalogue Note

"By generating what appears to be a double, it might be possible to represent what the original photograph or picture imagined...more technological than mechanical, more a simulation than an expression, the result is a photograph that's the closest thing to the real thing." Richard Prince
