Condition

This work is in very good condition overall. There is very light evidence of handling along the extreme edges with a few minor and unobtrusive pinpoint losses at the extreme corners. There is a network of hairline cracks visible throughout the composition and in the area of impasto around the void, all of which appears to be in stable condition and is inherent to the artist’s working method and intent. Under Ultraviolet light inspection, there is a ¼-inch vertical area that fluoresces darkly along the lower left edge. Framed.

Catalogue Note

"Einstein’s discovery of the cosmos is the infinite dimension, without end. And here we have the foreground, middleground and background, what do I have to do to go further? I make a hole, infinity passes through it, light passes through it…everyone thought I wanted to destroy; but it is not true, I have constructed."
