Jay Gorney Modern Art, New York Private Collection Phillips, New York, 8 November 2011, Lot 308 Laurent Godin Gallery, Paris (acquired from the above sale) Acquired from the above by the present owner in 2013
This work is in very good condition overall. All components of the work are present and accounted for. There is light accumulation of dust on the surface of the shelf and the lacquerware containers. Upon close inspection, there is evidence of hairline craquelure throughout, most noticeable on the circular tops and the cylinder surface of all five lacquerware containers. There are minor chips to the upper rims of the largest container and second smallest container. Please note this work is accompanied but specific installation instructions from the artist's studio. In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above. Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed, professional report. Prospective buyers should inspect each lot to satisfy themselves as to condition and must understand that any statement made by Sotheby's is merely a subjective qualified opinion.
