Condition

This work is in very good and structurally sound condition overall. All components of the sculpture are present and accounted for. The shopping cart shows signs of wear, with the bronze becoming slightly tarnished in certain areas, inherent to the medium. The rest of the components show surface irregularities throughout, inherent to the work.

Catalogue Note

"The plane was filled with Indians, my people, migrant workers from India...I began to get talking to the passengers who were tailors and taxi drivers and construction laborers...I asked them what was inside. It turned out that the contents were quite ordinary, their everyday belongings plus a few clothes for their children, perhaps a little jewelry for their wives. But these parcels seemed to me to be themselves like jewelry and so I started working on them." Subodh Gupta
