Condition

This work is in very good condition overall. The colors are bright and fresh. There is evidence of light handling and wear to the edges. There is an area of discoloration in the ochre gold passage just to the left of center bottom edge. There is a horizontal line approximately a quarter of the way down the canvas that is possibly a result of an inconsistent canvas weave at the time of execution. Under very close inspection, there is a minor 5 in. vertical abrasion in the upper right corner and a 3 in. horizontal abrasion at the center of the bottom edge. Under extreme raking light, there is evidence of hairline craquelure throughout the work, most noticeably in the lower section of the left side of the "H" and in the upper left corner. There are small areas of radial craquelure in the lower right yellow section, under the "A," and another in the upper left corner. There are unobtrusive small circular areas of mottling throughout the canvas. Under Ultraviolet light, scattered drip accretions fluoresce brightly but are not the result of restoration. Also under Ultraviolet inspection, there is a short L shaped line and a small circular spot that fluoresce in the lower right corner. Framed.
