Condition

This work is in fair condition overall. There is evidence of wear and handling to the edges, especially along the top edge. Inconsistencies in the canvas are visible throughout the work, including a canvas line which runs horizontally along the bottom edge of the work. There is hairline craquelure present throughout the work with a subsequent areas of loss. There are three areas of radial craquelure and small associated losses: In the upper half of the tree trunk, approximately 10 in. from the top edge; halfway up the right tree arm; and approximately 2 in. from the bottom and 10 in. from the left edge. Under Ultraviolet light, there is an area of impasto in the upper left that fluoresces darkly, and there is a white area right of the tree which fluoresces brightly; both appear to have benefited from restoration. Framed.
