Condition
This work is in very good condition overall. There is evidence of wear and handling to the edges. The top, bottom and right edges are even, inherent to the artist's chosen medium and working method. There are several brown and black pinpoint spot accretions scattered throughout the work, also likely inherent to the artist's chosen medium. The cardboard is hinged verso to the mat intermittently along the top and lateral edges. Framed under Plexiglas.

Catalogue Note
"Around 1967-1968, Twombly isolated the abstraction of movement, whether at rest or in motion, and its coefficient, space-time; the passionate centrifugal motion of Galatea is transformed into the supreme poetry of movement which intrigued Leonardo throughout his life… It is as if Twombly entered Leonardo’s mind to envision the affinities between natural and human processes—to see the drawn line, like a natural phenomenon, unfold in space and time.”
