Condition

Colour: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate, although the overall tonality is brighter and more vibrant in the original, and the whites tend more towards the white. The catalogue illustration also fails to convey the shine of the paint in the original. Condition: This work is in very good condition. All collaged elements are stable. Very close inspection reveals very faint rub marks to the extreme edges and all four corner tips. Further very close inspection reveals a few hair line tension cracks running intermittently along all four extreme edges, as well as a few thin drying cracks to a few of the thicker areas of impasto. No restoration is apparent when examined under ultra violet light.

Catalogue Note

"For me, particularly the large paintings... those kind of solidify what I've been trying to do for a long time, which is to make a large painting feel like a drawing, like sitting on the couch with a Sharpie, just making a little line drawing. Because at that scale, it's like the arm movements translate pretty seamlessly into a hand movement. I'm kind of dancing around this thing, doing it as quick as possible, and just letting the marks fall where they fall"
