Condition

Colour: The colour in the catalogue illustration is fairly accurate, although the overall tonality is deeper and richer in the original. Condition: This work is in very good condition. There is a superficial layer of dust that hast adhered to the crevices of the work and there are some superficial rub marks and scuffs in places. There are cracks and surface irregularities in places throughout, which are inherent to the artist's casting process. There are further cracks to the extreme edges of the work with some associated specks of loss in isolated places.

Catalogue Note

"I want to express the contradiction of my feelings, to go slowly in them to find the deep core of it. What matters to me is just what you see; what is written with matter on the page of our perception, what can be read simply by looking at the sculpture" (Leoncillo Leonardi cited in: Enrico Mascelloni and Lucia Torossi, Leoncillo mostra antologica, Rome 1990, p. 91, online).

This work is registered with the G.A.M. Leoncillo Archive under no. 1962/0218/CS01/ASI.
