Condition

The illustration is quite accurate. Good overall condition. Illustration is slightly too bright and doesn't show the difference of the gilding, slightly tarnished. One guéridon stamped 'Henry Dasson 1887' and the other stamped 'Henry Dasson', both stamped under the top. The marble top of the guéridon stamped 'Henry Dasson 1887' has been restored. Nice quality of gilding.

Catalogue Note

A drawing of this model, with same mounts imitating bamboo, is actually kept at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs and could be from the hand of the marchand-mercier Daguerre. Many examples of this model are stamped Weisweiler (twenty known), one can assume that this piece probably result from a collaboration between them. These two gueridons could be compared to one sold by Christie's, London, 15 June 1997 (lot 174) stamped Adam Weisweiler.
