Description

  • Haut. 79 cm, larg. 98 cm, prof. 98 cm ; height 31 in; width 38 1/2 in; depth 38 1/2 in
engraved with Habsburg and dukes of Burgundy coats of arms, profiles of Charles the Bold, his daughter Mary, her husband the emperor Maximilian and their son Philippe I of Castile, centered with a tournament topped by the motto Semper cum cantione; (traces of polychromy on marble)

Condition

The photograph is quite accurate. As expected, several scratches, dents, marks and stains throughout the surface, consistent with age. Traces of woodworm damages. A moulding is missing on the table 'piètement'. The veneer is flackering on the plinth with small chips. The original painted polychromy of the top is now extensively rubbed off, but the carving remains very attractive.
