Condition

-This work is well preserved. -The canvas has been relined. -The canvas is a bit tight, but the mount is sane and stable. -The pictorial layer is well preserved. -The varnish is dirty. -Two or three superficial white dirt stains in the lower part of the painting. -No repainted part visible to the naked eye. -With the UV light, several repainted parts are visible: some scattered in the sky and rather numerous; some others rather limited and of minor importance in the grass; and finally, some others, smaller on the horseman and on the horse’s neck. -In a modern golden wood frame.

Catalogue Note

Dolma Baghtche, daughter of Le Sancy belonged to baron Arthur de Schickler's racing stables. She won the Grand Prix de Paris in 1894. After the victory, the Baron de Schickler commissionned the picture presented here, showing the famous jockey Dodge riding Dolma Baghtche.
