the leather signed Gebr. Rodeck, purveyors to the Imperial and Royal Court, Vienna; with two old photographs of Emperor Guillaume I and his wife Augusta who wrote on the first page: Dévouement patriotique à la sainte cause de l'humanité ! / Berlin, Noël 1870 / Augusta de Prusse

Most certainly given by Empress Augusta (1811-1890) to Arthur Schickler, banker to the German imperial court

Condition

The photograph is quite accurate. Good overall condition, except a few scratches and marks all thtroughout the surface, especially the leather, as expected. A few first pages are detached. The key is missing.
