Formerly Emma Ciardi Collection, according to an inscription on the reverse
Guglielmo Ciardi is famous for his beautiful views of Venice but he also painted mountain landscapes during his stays in Veneto, Trentino and Lombardy. The picture presented here shows a landscape near Asiago, located in North Veneto.
The work is executed on an uncradled thick wooden panel which is very slightly bowed away in the upper left corner but otherwise flat and even.
There is a very small spot of paint flaking to the left of the lower edge.
Ultraviolet light reveals some small strokes of old retouching primarily in the sky, apart from which the work is in good condition.
The work could benefit from a surface clean if desired.
