Condition

Excellent condition overall. Wear consistent with age and use within the culture. There are a few nicks to the rim of the spoon and several nuances in the patina.

Chez les Fang, les cuillers à figuration humaine sont éminemment plus rares que celles décorées de motifs non figuratifs. Apanage des hommes, elles s’affirment en tant qu’objets de prestige. Chef-d’œuvre miniature dans le traitement de la tête humaine en trois dimensions, la cuiller de la Collection Marceau Rivière s’apparente étroitement à l’œuvre publiée en 1991 par Christiane Falgayrettes-Leveau dans l’ouvrage de référence Cuillers-Sculptures (p. 124).
