Condition

The work is slightly dirty. The surface of the sculpture presents wear marks, most notably at the extremities, which have resulted in small losses of media and chips. There are faint stains visible under close inspection. On the armchair, close inspection reveals abrasions and some cracks near the hands.

Catalogue Note

“As her clothes gets saturated with water, the body structure of the model slowly appears. Besides, the discomfort is such that models absolutely cannot cheat; they show their true nature. Stoics remain impassive and hystericals scream”, explains Segal.  The artist’s work consists in opening the molds, breaking them and adjusting the pieces. He sometimes changes the body posture and arms to suggest the human drama of a suspended moment.
