In-8 (195 x 115 mm). Maroquin rouge, triple filet doré, armes poussées au centre des plats, dos orné de filets et fleurons, tranches dorées (Reliure de l'époque).Légères éraflures à la reliure. Maroquin rouge aux armes de Louis XVI. Édition originale, illustrée de 14 planches hors texte comportant 81 costumes français du XIIIe au XVIIIe siècle dessinés par Rieg et gravés par Ingouf et Trière. Exemplaire du célèbre libraire, éditeur et bibliophile anglais James Toovey (1814-1893), qui acquit le château de Gosford en Irlande du Nord en 1878. À sa mort en 1894, une partie de ses livres furent dispersés aux enchères, le reste fut vendu en 1899 à J. Pierpont Morgan. Provenance : James Toovey (ex-libris avec sa devise Inter folia fructus).
