In-4 (250 x 185 mm). Maroquin rouge janséniste, dos à nerfs, roulette intérieure, tranches dorées, étui (Thibaron-Joly).Papier uniformément bruni. Étui légèrement frotté. Édition originale, partagée entre Denys Thierry et Claude Barbin, illustrée d’un frontispice d'après Charles Le Brun, gravé par Sébastien Le Clerc. Elle parut l'année même de la première représentation de cette pièce commandée par Mme de Maintenon pour les pensionnaires de Saint-Cyr. Elle fut interprétée avec tant de grâce et de modestie que ce "divertissement d'enfants est devenu le sujet d'empressement de toute la Cour" (Préface, aiii).
