- Le Philosophe moderne, ou l'Incredule condamne au tribunal de sa raison. Paris, Despilly, 1759.
In-12 (161 x 92 mm). Maroquin rouge, large dentelle dorée ponctuée aux angles de pièces d’armes, armoiries poussées au centre des plats, dos lisse orné de pièces d’armes, roulette intérieure, tranches dorées (Reliure de l’époque). Très infimes usures à la reliure. Édition originale de ce texte dédié au dauphin "consacré à la défense du christianisme, contre les attaques de l’incrédulité, mal déguisé sous le masque d’une philosophie plus que profane" (épître, vii). Bel exemplaire, imprimé sur papier fort, relié pour Marie-Josèphe de Saxe, dauphine de France (1731-1767) à ses armes (OHR, pl. 2526, fer n° 8, exemplaire cité). Fille de Frédéric-Auguste II, roi de Pologne et de Marie-Josèphe, archiduchesse d’Autriche, elle devint en 1747 la seconde épouse de Louis, Dauphin de France, fils de Louis XV. Provenance : cote ancienne au recto du dernier feuillet de garde "n° XXXXoo". -- Henri Lavedan (ex-libris, vente février 1929, n° 189).
