Description

  • crystal 8.9 cm, 3 1/2  in.; stand 13.2 cm, 5 1/4  in.
the stand skilfully carved in openwork depicting a chilong and phoenix amidst swirling clouds, the stone of a pale celadon tone with natural veins, supporting a crystal ball of good clarity

Provenance

Sotheby's Hong Kong, 28th October 1992, lot 501.

Condition

There are expected shallow chips to the fragile extremities of the openwork carving, including two measuring approx. 1.5 cm each flanking one ruyi cloud at the front. There are natural flaws/fissures to the stone. There is an approx. 1 cm bruise and light surface wear to the crystal ball.
