Catalogue Note

The present bottle is a fine example of the Suzhou School of agate bottles. Created by a highly imaginative and skilled carver, the abstract dark brown inclusions have been skilfully incorporated into a lively exterior scene depicting mandarin ducks amidst lotus and other flowers. Another Suzhou agate snuff bottle of similar quality from the Kaynes-Klitz collection and Joe Grimberg was sold in our New York rooms, 14th September 2010, lot 145.
