  • 31.8 cm, 12 1/2  in.
sturdily potted with a broad shoulder rising to a waisted neck and lipped rim, incised around the sides with an aquatic scene of fish and waterplants and further applied with a lustrous brown glaze 

Provenance

A Japanese private collection.

Condition

The jar is in overall good condition, with some expected occasional surface wear or typical minor firing imperfections.The rare lustrous brown glaze may be an old addition, but could well be original and not later added‎ on what is otherwise an incised fish and water plant decoration with lappets around the base and lotus scrolls above the shoulder.
